The position will be based on the Bangor campus, known for its strong sense of community. Bangor is a friendly city with a low cost of living, low crime rate and vibrant cultural activities. The area is a gateway to the natural beauty of Maine, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and lakes, 45 minutes from the Maine coast and an hour from Acadia National Park. The University of Maine Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Director of Enrollment and Advising Services on our Bangor campus . The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate an integrated admission, enrollment and advising services center at the Bangor campus. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, evenings and weekends as necessary. Salary Band: 03; the normal hiring range for this position is mid-thirties to low-forties. Primary responsibilities include: A. Enrollment Services & Office Management Direct and monitor staff to ensure comprehensive staff coverage during business hours. Hire, train, and supervise designated staff members. As supervisor, assign work, approve leave and payroll, perform evaluations, and discipline as appropriate. Assist with hiring, training, and supervising staff employees. Coordinate and manage campus “one stop” planning and operations. Ensure cross training of all staff to support a concierge student services delivery model. This includes, but is not limited to, fielding inquiries, making outreach calls, creating student ID cards, registering new students, processing payments, and setting up payment plans. Assist with general office coverage for telephone calls, walk-ins and electronic communication. Provide reports of activities, plans or accountability statistics, as requested. B. Student Advising Provide full array of direct advising services to new and continuing UMA students, prospective students, and non-degree students. Provide unofficial credit reviews for prospective transfer students. Process requests for Substitutions, Waivers and Change of Programs. Ensure delivery of placement testing, credit by examination tests (CLEP, Dantes, etc.), professional exams (PRAXIS), and portfolio assessment at the Bangor Campus. Support faculty in their advising role. Make advisor assignments and reassignments. Develop and disseminate advising tools and conduct advisor training. Serve as the liaison to identified academic program(s). Assist in the development and delivery of program specific outreach and success initiatives. C. Admissions & Recruitment With direction from the Dean of Admission, ensure the implementation of on- and off-campus events, programs, receptions, information sessions, and activities to recruit and/or acclimate new students. Work directly with the Admissions Staff Associate on program and event execution. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal departments and external organizations, such as regional high schools and agencies, community colleges, and community advocacy groups. Oversee admissions application processing that includes, but is not limited to, credential uploads into document management system, missing application item(s) notifications, and application review. Monitor quality and efficiency of application processing to ensure timely responsiveness to prospective students throughout the application lifecycle. D. Student Services In collaboration with Learning Success, coordinates the delivery of the UMA-Bangor New Student Orientations. Initiate Title IX outreach and conduct intake interviews with students. Track and incentivize student engagement with services, resources, and opportunities. Qualifications: Required : Baccalaureate degree Minimum three years of supervisory experience Evidence of progressive responsible experience in admissions/enrollment services, and/or academic advising Competency in academic advising and prior learning assessment Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to use sound judgment, to work independently, as well as in a team environment Strong organizational, prioritization, and record keeping skills Preferred : Master’s degree Experience in higher education setting, including work with first generation college students, adult students, transfer students, parents, faculty, and school counselors Applicants must complete an online application and submit a cover letter and resume at https://uma.hiretouch.com/ .
