In November 2003, voters in Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties authorized the issuance of $24,600,000 in bonds to finance construction of a regional jail facility to serve primarily the two counties. The jail is a the direct supervision facility, and will has the capacity for 120 inmates with the capability of housing up to 170. Initial occupancy is anticipated to average 110 inmates, including an estimated 15 to 20 boarders. The Authority is managed by a 12-member Board of Directors. Jail facility operations is overseen by a Correctional Administrator. It is expected that approximately 75 full-time Authority employees and approximately 8 contract employees will be required to operate the new jail facility.
