The Bangor Public Library strives to inspire, enlighten and enrich its members by connecting them to books, information and ideas needed for work, recreation, education and inspiration. It seeks to contribute to the prosperity and growth of Bangor by fostering the spirit of exploration, the joy of reading, the pursuit of knowledge, and the preservation of our city's history. It's a busy organization serving an average of 816 people a day with a collection totaling over 525,000 volumes. It is a 501 ( c) organization that receives 61% of its $2.3m budget from the city. The Library currently has a staff of 30 full-time and 6 part-time employees.
