Job Description

The purpose of this position is to coordinate and implement a strategic communications plan for the College of Engineering; to cultivate a broad range of constituencies and stakeholders; to assist in developing resources to support the College of Engineering; and to collaborate with the College of Engineering Dean’s Office and Public Affairs to develop and promote the University of Maine and College of Engineering “brands”. 

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • B.S./B.A. degree in communications, business, English, new media, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in public relations, media, and communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Desktop Publishing, social media, and web site design.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills essential.
  • Developed knowledge of rapidly evolving communications technologies, graphic design, photography, video, and social networking media.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, short deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Proficiency using statistical inference; to compile, analyze and present data for purposes of annual reporting and for tracking organizational growth and historical trends as well as effectiveness of marketing strategies.

Preferred:

  • Experience in proposal preparation.
