Job Summary:

The Payroll Specialist position in Saco, ME is responsible for operations of the payroll function in accordance with best practices including timely and accurate processing and effective monitoring and oversight of internal controls. Responsibilities include maintaining positive and effective team and employee relationships. Maintains records of all financial transactions by establishing and posting transactions of payments to vendors and employees. Ensuring that payroll is properly authorized and processed in a timely manner. This is a full time, first shift, long term temporary position. You will prepare and issue regular and off-cycle paychecks, process payroll cycles on weekly basis for both hourly and salary employees, as well as prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.. You will maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data, work close with the human resources department to verify payroll changes, and maintain financial security by following internal controls, and internal policies and procedures around the procurement and disbursement of payments and petty cash. You’ll help assist financial analysts in identifying account information needs for program staff, monitor books of record by preparing information for external auditors, as well as ensure customer satisfaction by answering questions, requests and collecting and analyzing information to resolve discrepancies. If you have strong time management skills and sensitivity to deadlines, demonstrate excellent analytical skills and excellent written and oral skills, and continuously work toward best practice procedures by recommending procedure changes for the Financial department this may be the job for you!


What We Need From You:

  • Minimum of 5 years of combined accounts payable and in-house and outsourced payroll experience
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Type at least 40 WPM
  • Proficient in computerized payroll and accounting systems, VISTA PDS, VISTA Time ,Great Plains preferred
  • Able to use a computer, laptop or tablet for four (4) or more hours each day
  • Must occasionally lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs
  • Personal Computer, word processing, spreadsheets (Excel) and data entry skills.
