The HR assistant position in Damariscotta is responsible for greeting employees, answering the phone, assisting new employees with onboarding, payroll,benefit administration . This is a full time, first shift position and the schedule is Monday-Friday. You wil assist the human resource staff with employee benefits, wellness programs, personnel records, hiring, training, legal compliance and other HR support functions. You will respond to employee requests for assistance with timesheet and payroll questions, assist management personnel in the recruitment/hiring process by responding to inquiries, running credit and background checks, testing, and other related functions. Must be familiar with the basic process involved in filing claims, use of flexible spending and health savings accounts, COBRA and other insurance-related issues to assist employees with questions, keeping in mind the principles of HIPAA compliance. It will be important to have confidence, the willingness and desire to provide excellent customer service and to be comfortable with computers. What We Need From You:
Strong written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
College degree or equivalent experience
Payroll and/or benefit system experience preferred
PHR certified or ability to become certified
Read and understand instructions, safety rules, etc.
High school graduate plus college-level courses and/or equivalent work experience in human resource work
