Job Description

This position participates in a team of technicians responsible for animal husbandry and antibody production activities.  All job responsibilities to be conducted within standard operating procedures and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

Animal Husbandry & Health Care

  1. Clean and disinfect cages, rooms and support areas.
  2. Feed animals; maintain water systems, ventilation settings, pest control, and related tasks.
  3. Conduct animal identification, animal breeding programs and related tasks.
  4. Conduct animal health monitoring and documentation.
  5. Document work procedures through batch records and internal systems in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements and expectations.
  6. Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
  7. Conduct inventory for supplies, maintain critical inventories, and stock supplies.
  8. Participates in development of new processes and procedures.

 

 Antibody Production

  1. Conduct daily set-up and procedures for antibody production for all housed species.
  2. Document work procedures accomplished through batch records and internal systems in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements and expectations.
  3. Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment. 
  4. Conduct inventory for supplies, maintain critical inventories, and stock supplies.
  5. Participates in development of new processes and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  1. High school degree or equivalent degree (Tech I)
  2. Knowledge of job specific standard operating procedures, animal welfare regulations and cGMP standards.
  3. Aptitude to learn basic animal physiology.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Not required - Tech I

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to understand and execute written work instructions.
  2. Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
  3. Ability to operate laboratory equipment.
  4. Ability to repetitively manipulate lab and husbandry equipment and materials.
  5. Basic computer skills for data entry and communications.
  6. Ability to restrain animals.
  7. Ability to evaluate animal health and document results.
  8. Ability to demonstrate and explain proper technique in husbandry and production activities.
