The Gardiner Police Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve in its community oriented and progressive police department. The City of Gardiner offers competitive pay, with lateral entry commensurate with experience for certified police officers. Gardiner PD offers educational and/or military stipends, yearly clothing allowance, an employee/family health and dental plan option and Maine State Retirement (25yrs, no age, 2/3 pay). The successful candidate, upon completion of field training, will be assigned to work patrol (12 hour schedule) and will be scheduled to have every other weekend off. Employees accrue 1 vacation and 1 sick day per month to start and employees are allowed to accrue compensatory time off as well.
To be considered for this outstanding opportunity, applicants shall be at least 21 years of age (or 20 years of age with 60 college credits), and have a valid Maine driver's license. Candidates that are not full-time certified must have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT Test, have recently passed (WITHIN the last 4 months) the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's physical agility test and have successfully completed PHASE I training through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. The next dates of the physical agility test or ALERT test offered at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy as well as how to obtain the certification for Phase I can be found by visiting - http://www.maine.gov/dps/mcja/. Leading job candidates will undergo an oral board interview, background investigation, polygraph and or psychological testing and a medical exam. A condensed hiring process is in effect for officers that have full-time certification (email Chief Toman email@example.com to find out what the condensed version is)
Those with Maine Criminal Justice Academy Phase II or Full-Time certification will be given preference.
