Local seacoast Maine/New Hampshire law firm seeks full-time organized professional to support attorneys and manage office functions for a busy two attorney office.
Office responsibilities include: Receive clients in-person at law firm, prepare correspondence; maintain office calendar; organize and track client files; order office supplies; schedule appointments; monthly production of bills; daily banking; and, accounts payable.
Legal Assistant responsibilities include: Draft legal documents (for example, pleadings, real estate deeds); make calls to courts and other attorneys regarding schedules, filing of motions, and other matters; intake of information with client; occasional travel to courts and registries to file documents and conduct research.
Successful candidate will be organized, detail oriented, and able to work independently. Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Sage TimeSlips a plus. Professional manner in person and by phone necessary for interaction with clients, court staff, other attorneys and state and local agencies a must. Prior office/business experience preferred; paralegal training not mandatory. Expectation that candidate will apply to become a Notary Public upon hiring, unless he or she is already commissioned by the State of Maine.
