This position is primarily concentrated around the service & repair of residential wastewater systems. Candidate would be responsible for the management of some drinking water systems as well. Mechanical ability is required.
Duties & Requirements:
- State of Maine Class C Driver’s License in good standing.
- State of Maine Class I Drinking Water Certificate both treatment and distribution or the ability to obtain in a timely manner. (Desired of applicant, but will train the right candidate)
- State of Maine Wastewater Grade I Certification or the ability to obtain in a timely manner. (Desired of applicant, but will train the right candidate)
- Be ready and willing to travel to drinking water and wastewater systems across the state of Maine.
-Ability to create and maintain a personal schedule to organize field visits and the ability to meet all deadlines.
-Ability to communicate and develop professional relationships with a variety of clientele, co-workers and stake holder parties.
-Have a fundamental understanding or be able and willing to learn water and wastewater treatment components. Be able to identify and diagnose possible problems that may arise.
-Use a variety of scientific field equipment to analyze drinking water and wastewater parameters. Equipment including but not limited to colorimeters, pH meters, DO meters, and well sounders.
-Collect drinking water and wastewater samples that will be used for state/federal compliance and operations & maintenance testing. As well as, providing system maintenance as required.
-Be responsible for administrative duties that relates to the compliance/regulatory standards of drinking water and wastewater systems.
-Standard working hours are 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday. Rotation of Weekend On-Call Duty is required, as well as availability to work after hours in the occurrence of system emergencies.
Experience and Required Skills:
Experience preferred, but willing to train and accommodate licensure of the right candidate.
Required Skills:
*Mechanical aptitude: ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues & make minor repairs
*Basic computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Suite
*Basic understanding of plumbing & electrical components
*Basic mathematic comprehension, i.e. conversions, volume calculations, etc.
* Bend, flex, kneel and lift up to 50 lbs
Compensation:
Compensation will be based on experience and current water and wastewater certification
