We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families facing life-limiting illness.
Position Summary:
As a vital member of our interdisciplinary hospice team, the Hospice Chaplain offers non-denominational spiritual care, grief support, and guidance tailored to each patient’s beliefs, values, and cultural background. This role is central to delivering holistic, person-centered care in homes, long-term care facilities, and other settings where patients reside.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide spiritual counseling, comfort, and presence to patients and families
- Support individuals of all faiths, spiritual paths, or no religious affiliation
- Facilitate life review, legacy work, and end-of-life rituals as appropriate
- Collaborate closely with hospice nurses, social workers, aides, and volunteers
- Assist with bereavement support and family follow-up after death
- Document visits and assessments in the electronic health record
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Counseling, or related field
- Ordination or commissioning by a recognized religious body preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in hospice, healthcare chaplaincy, or spiritual care
- Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) units strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills with a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
