The City of Presque Isle Public Works Department is seeking a reliable and organized Administrative Assistant to provide clerical and administrative support to department staff. This position plays a key role in supporting daily operations related to infrastructure, maintenance, and municipal services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to Public Works management and staff
- Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and public inquiries
- Prepare correspondence, reports, work orders, and meeting minutes
- Maintain filing systems, records, and databases
- Assist with scheduling, purchasing, and tracking work orders
- Process invoices, timesheets, and basic financial documentation
- Coordinate communication between the department, other municipal departments, contractors, and the public
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary training in office administration is an asset)
- Previous administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a municipal or public-sector environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and office equipment
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
- Customer service–oriented with a professional and courteous manner
