The Opportunity Alliance is looking to fill the Research Coordinator position with our Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN) program.

The Youth Research Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing data collection and reporting systems for the Maine Youth Action Network. Responsibilities include coordinating data collection and tracking systems, including maintaining the data dashboard; coordinating all subcontractor reporting requirements and cleaning data submissions; co-creating and distributing qualitative assessment tools directly related to program outcomes; and supporting the development of resources and tools connected to emergent best practices in the intersectional fields of positive youth development, public health, and social justice. Additionally, the Coordinator will partner with MYAN team members to recruit and engage youth leaders as applicants, readers, and reviewers of the health equity funding while capturing the process learnings to share with grantmaking partners. The Youth Research Coordinator will collaborate with MYAN team and community partners on additional pilot initiatives as relevant to the mission.
This is a supervisor role, overseeing youth participants, MYAN interns, and volunteers.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Core hours are Mon- Fri. regular business hours
Location: Office based in Portland, ME
May be some opportunity for remote work in a hybrid schedule.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health administration, education, or human services related field and 2+ years relevant work experience; or 2-year associates degree, with 3+ years related work experience required.
- Experience working in youth engagement and/or public health strongly preferred.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel throughout the state of Maine, including some overnights.
- Position requires some evening and weekend hours.
- Preferred but not required knowledge of positive youth development, youth-adult partnerships, policy work with youth, prevention and public health practices.
- Preferred experience working with diverse populations, including engaging geographically isolated youth, indigenous youth, LGBTQ youth, youth of color, and/or youth living in poverty.
- Preferred knowledge of restorative practices, social-emotional learning, and/or social justice work in some combination.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Competent in working with multiple partners and in soliciting input.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in interpersonal communication.
- Exhibits extensive expertise with data management and assessment tools.
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
- Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
- Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with frequent physically active trainings and meetings with youth and adults, driving, typing and occasionally lifting material weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required.
