Administrative Coordinator
Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN)
Pay Range: $24.50/hour - $25.75/hour
MYAN is a statewide network of committed adults and passionate young people who believe in the transformative power of youth leadership. MYAN provides growth opportunities and technical assistance to young people and adults across the state. This work is rooted in positive youth development and a strengths-based approach. This program supports young people seeking to improve their communities or drive social change, and adults who want to improve their practice and engage young people in positive new ways.
The Administrative Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support and managing administrative systems for the Maine Youth Action Network. Responsibilities include providing administrative support for statewide programming, supporting event planning associated with Maine Youth Leadership Conference, coordinating all administrative functions related to daily operations, such as ordering supplies, processing invoices and travel reimbursements, and scheduling travel or trainings as requested.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Location: Hybrid work, in Maine. Office space available in Portland. Some on-site work required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, education, or human services related field and 2+ years relevant work experience; or 2-year associates degree, with 3+ years administrative or assistant work required.
- Experience working in youth leadership and development and/or public health preferred but not required.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel throughout the state of Maine, including some overnights.
- Position requires some evening and weekend hours.
- Preferred but not required knowledge of positive youth development, youth-adult partnerships, policy work with youth, prevention and public health practices.
- Preferred experience working with diverse populations, including engaging geographically isolated youth, indigenous youth, LGBTQ youth, youth of color, and/or youth living in poverty.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Competent in working with multiple partners and in soliciting input.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in interpersonal communication.
- Exhibits extensive software skills and Internet research abilities.
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
- Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
- Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with frequent physically active trainings and meetings with youth and adults, driving, typing and occasionally lifting material weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings. This may include driving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is preferred.
