Job Summary:
The Unit Secretary is an essential member of the Patient Care Team providing clinical care to patients within the scope of practice defined for medical assistants and as directed by the provider, as well as clerical support.
Job Requirements: (education and experience/preferred and required)
Certification by a nationally recognized organization which includes a competency exam. Those organizations include the American Association of Medical Assistants, the National Center for Competency Testing, and the National Health Career Association.
Graduation from an accredited 2-year Medical Assistant program is preferred.
Basic Life Support certification is required.
Strong computer skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure.
Responsible, supportive team player.
Must have excellent patient relations and interpersonal skills.
Must read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
Effective use of telephone skills.
Medical Terminology required.
