Precision Machine Technologies (PMT) Lab Assistant. This position will work at our YCCC’s Sanford Instructional Site in Sanford, Maine. York County Community College’s mission is to provide academic, career and transfer programs while serving to advance cultural, economic and workforce development in York County and the state of Maine. The college offers associate degree programs in arts, science, and applied science, and certificate programs in workforce training and professional development, more than 30 programs in all. The college also offers a number of online courses and programs. The Precision Machining programs are offered at our Sanford Instructional Site. Schedule: This is a part time temporary position which may vary between 10 to 20 hours per week and will terminate at the end of each the fall and Spring semesters. Description: This position requires assisting in maintaining standards with regard to inventory and maintenance of equipment and tools, and student assistance during open lab hours. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining lab supplies, materials, and equipment. Reports directly to the Site Coordinator Duties; Must complete assigned employee trainings. Weekly inspection of all machines and their status. Tallies and verifies completed student toolbox inventory sheets. Weekly inspection of all tool boxes and cutting tools. Inventories and organizes machine shop supplies in order to ensure adequate supplies for classroom usage. Works collaboratively, as assigned, to prepare lab and monitor safe work practices during class shop activities Assists in overseeing cleanliness of lab equipment and tool storage. Skills and Abilities Required; Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to operate manual machine shop equipment. Ability to work well in a classroom environment and communicate with students. Minimum Qualifications; Physical ability to lift 25 pounds. Must be able to work safely in a shop environment. Preferred Qualifications; Previous experience in a mechanized work environment. Prior completion of OSHA accepted workplace training.
