Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this HR Generalist position include: 
 
•    Oversight of the day-to-day operations of payroll for approximately 3,600 DHHS and DHHS Service Center Employees.
•    Supervision of a seven (7) member payroll team. 
•    Oversight of the State of Maine reimbursement program payment process. 
•    Providing guidance concerning payroll and other human resource-related issues to supervisors and Human Resources Managers which is consistent with collective bargaining agreements, Civil Service Laws and rules, and current human resource processing procedures.
•    Ensuring timely processing of retroactive, lump sum and settlement payments.
•    Distribution of pertinent information to DHHS employees via email, i.e., catastrophic leave requests, early payroll notifications, storm release information, etc.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

1.    Demonstrated education and/or experience in human resources or a related field.
2.    Demonstrated ability and experience in providing a broad range of HR-related support and training to managers and supervisors, and sound decision-making.
3.    A successful history of providing exceptional customer service and partnering with agencies in providing meaningful HR services with an emphasis on being innovative.
4.    Knowledge of and prior experience working with bargaining unit contracts and merit systems principles.
5.    A demonstrated ability of working in a fast-paced, team-based environment with proficiency in meeting shifting priorities.
 
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
•    Experience processing payroll for State of Maine agencies or departments.
•    At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
•    Proficiency with DAFS analytics.
