The Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine is accepting applications for an Application Developer.
The Muskie School of Public Service is Maine’s distinguished public policy school, combining an extensive applied research and technical assistance portfolio with rigorous undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs in geography-anthropology; tourism and hospitality; policy, planning, and management (MPPM); and public health (MPH). The school is nationally recognized for applying innovative knowledge to critical issues in the fields of sustainable development and health and human service policy and management and is home to the Cutler Institute for Health and Social Policy . The Muskie School and Cutler Institute engage in cross-disciplinary opportunities through the University of Maine Graduate & Professional Center, which brings together programs in business, law, policy, and public health.
The Application Developer designs, develops, and maintains applications and related systems ensuring compliance with design criteria, security protocols, programming standards, compatibility issues, disaster recovery plans, and documentation requirements established by the University and/or contract partners. The Application Developer works closely with project staff to convert databases and technical reports into user-friendly templates for non-technical staff. S/he provides easy access to reports, analyses, and other products designed to meet the needs of staff working in various programs. Secondarily, the position provides support to project teams working with large and small data sets including but not limited to healthcare data and healthcare provider quality measure reporting.
This is a grant funded position with a starting annual salary up to $65,000 located on our Portland Campus.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant professional experience.
- Knowledge and experience with web and application programming, relational database design, and database architecture.
- Experience with database management.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Reporting Services, and SQL Server Integration Services.
