Job Description

In a job-shop environment, the welder/fabricator will interpret prints, plan, set up and produce a wide variety of fabricated products. Requirements include material prep and fit-up, mig and tig welding, and overhead crane and forklift operations. The ability to interpret mechanical drawings, along with attention to detail and effective communication skills, are a must. Three years or more of experience is preferred.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

- Understand and interpret mechanical drawings, hand sketches, prints, and specs

- Select tooling and determine appropriate methods for manufacturing products

- Follow an organized system for storing and retrieving tools

- Identify potential problems and recommend corrective action

- Perform checks during production to ensure specs and quality standards are met

- Inspect work areas, and examine tools and equipment to prevent unsafe conditions

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Minimum three years welder/fabrication experience

- Strong background in interpreting mechanical drawings and sketches

- Safety-conscious approach at all times

- Strong problem-solving skills

- Detail-orientated with good organizational and planning skills

- Strong communication and listening skills

- Self-motivated in an independent work environment

- Mechanically inclined and have knowledge of metal shop work
