Contract Attorney Needed – Remote / Surplus Funds Cases

Ibarguen & Jordan Law Group is seeking licensed attorneys to establish ongoing independent contractor relationships with our firm for surplus funds recovery matters.

We handle surplus funds claims arising from foreclosure and tax sales across multiple states and are expanding our network of local contract attorneys.

This is a remote, flexible, 1099 independent contractor opportunity, with compensation established on a per-case basis.

Responsibilities

Review and approve legal documents prepared by our firm.

File motions, petitions, and related pleadings when required.

Attend virtual or in-person hearings as necessary.

Provide guidance regarding state-specific court procedures.

Assist with obtaining court orders authorizing surplus funds distributions.

Communicate with our office regarding case status and required next steps.

What Our Firm Provides

Client intake and engagement.

Administrative and case management support.

Initial preparation of legal documents.

Document collection and case coordination.

Training and guidance regarding our surplus funds workflow.

Our goal is to minimize the administrative burden on our contract attorneys so they can focus primarily on reviewing, filing, and appearing when necessary.

Requirements

Active law license and good standing in the applicable state.

Ability to handle court filings and appearances independently.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Familiarity with civil litigation, foreclosure, real estate, or surplus funds matters preferred but not required.

Availability for occasional hearings, many of which may be conducted virtually.

We are currently seeking attorneys licensed in:

Delaware

Michigan

Maine

Missouri

*Wisconsin

Attorneys licensed in other states are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation

Independent contractor (1099) position. Compensation is negotiated on a per-case basis depending on the scope of work, jurisdiction, and hearing requirements.

This is not a salaried or full-time position. Case assignments are offered as matters become available.
