Company Description
Standard Biocarbon (SBC) stands at the frontier of an emerging green industry which is scaling engineered CO2 removal and commercializing high impact carbon negative products. Biochar, made through a high temperature process called pyrolysis, locks about 50% of the carbon captured by photosynthesis in biomass into mineralized near pure carbon. This material has multiple uses in agriculture, remediation and building materials with enormous growth potential. Biochar also persists in soil for thousands of years, permanently removing CO2 from the atmosphere and has emerged as a leading “engineered” carbon removal methodology. SBC’s first biochar plant is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2023 at the Pleasant River Lumber Mill in Enfield, Maine.
