Falmouth Elementary School seeks a dynamic and innovative extended leave teacher substitute for a grade 5 classroom who builds positive and caring relationships with children, inspires and supports them in their learning, and works collaboratively with colleagues on their behalf. This position will begin mid April 2025 and run through the end of the school year.
Our successful candidate will have exceptional skills in:
- Understanding and empowering the whole child, including designing for learning in ways that connect, include, and create equity for each and every child
- Differentiating learning to support gifted and struggling learners
- Maximizing student engagement in learning through classroom management, knowledge of curriculum, effective pacing and harnessing student voice and choice
- Communicating effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Self-directed learning, driven by self-reflection and a thirst for growth
- Sharing and co-creating as a positive and collaborative team player
- Implementing positive behavior interventions and supports, as well as social emotional learning
- Integrating technology in both professional and classroom practice (including Google Suite, video technology, and a range of virtual learning platforms)
- Teaching and learning best practices, including but not limited to Readers & Writers Workshop, Integration of Standards for Mathematical Practice, Inquiry-based learning approaches for STEM instruction, etc.
- Using assessment data to inform practice (NWEA, Benchmark Assessment System (BAS), iReady, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Minimum Requirements: Preference will be given to teachers who have experience teaching at the elementary level.
- Minimum Education Requirements: State Certification (020)
- Approved CRC (Criminal Records Check) and background check (will be run by the school department).
Pay will be $165/day. This position does not include benefits.
