Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasonography with progressive experience and technical skills in Ultrasonography.
- Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred
- License/Certifications: Current/Active ARDMS required. Registered in two or more specialty areas of Ultrasonography.
Summary: Under the supervision of the Manager of Imaging Services and working in conjunction with the Physician/Radiologist, the Ultrasound Supervisor acts as a liaison between the Radiology Department, physicians, the public and patients of appropriate ages. The incumbent coordinates the day-to-day activities within the Ultrasound Department. The incumbent produces two-dimensional ultrasonic images of internal organs and operates equipment capable of generating information for diagnostic purposes on prenatal through geriatric patients. The incumbent will directly supervise all sonographers. The incumbent is responsible for troubleshooting all equipment within the Ultrasound Department. The incumbent is responsible for department protocols being utilized. The incumbent is responsible for administrative tasks regarding the operations of the Ultrasound Department including any satellite locations. The incumbent will be allowed non-scanning hours in which to complete these tasks. The incumbent performs duties in accordance with performance standards. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee, and Mercy proprietary information, and must handle and protect the information in accordance with hospital and system policies, HIPAA requirements, and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, and other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is accountable for employee safety and will attend safety and loss-control training, engage in injury prevention, perform accident and injury investigations including conducting root cause analysis, and assist in returning employees to regular duty. The incumbent is responsible for participating in and completing all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of the Hospital.
