About the Role
The Prep Cook at Benny's is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to our quality standards under the direction of the Kitchen Manager and Lead Cook. In our compact, high-energy kitchen, this role helps keep service efficient, consistent, and smooth.
Key Responsibilities
*Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards.
*Measure and portion ingredients for daily menu items and specials.
*Assist in preparing sauces, dressings, and other components as directed by the Lead Cook or Kitchen Manager.
*Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep stations, storage areas, and workspaces.
*Assist with inventory management, ingredient rotation, and stock organization.
*Support Line Cooks, Lead Cook, and Kitchen Manager during service as needed.
*Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
*Communicate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations.
*Assist with basic kitchen tasks such as restocking supplies and cleaning equipment.
*Contribute to a positive, cooperative kitchen culture.
Qualifications
* 1–3 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen or full-service restaurant
* Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
* Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality in a fast-paced environment
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation standards
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations
