Mount Desert Island Ice Cream is a Maine based, woman-owned artisanal ice cream company, and we looking to fill a management position at our location at 51 Exchange Street in downtown Portland, ME.
As manager, you will be responsible for the in-shop staff, which can range from four to twelve individuals throughout the year. Our staff often spans age ranges and experience levels (from folks that are learning their first job, to legacy staff).
You will act as the conduit between the staff and customers and the Director of Operations, who is based in Bar Harbor, ME.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Creating and maintaining the in-shop schedule for staff
Hiring and training new staff to work independently on the floor
Managing cash and credit deposits/reporting
Serving customers on the floor
Being on call for in-shop emergencies/last minute shift coverage
Inventory management of fresh/frozen products and supplies
General leadership in shop/representing management in the shop for staff and customers, ensuring staff are meeting requirements
Maintaining our in-shop cleanliness and organization standards
Maintaining our drama-free work environment
We are looking for availability February through December each year.
The ideal candidate will have some basic experience in food or customer service, and a willingness to learn; we are looking for someone we can train and grow with, not necessarily someone with management experience!
