Leeward is hiring a Front of House Manager.
Leeward is an owner-operated, 60-seat Italian restaurant located in the Art District of downtown Portland, Maine. We focus on handmade pasta and low-intervention Italian wine. We make a concerted effort when sourcing to choose sustainable, local, and organic products. Leeward and its staff have been named James Beard Award semifinalists five times and finalists twice, as well as being named one of the NYT 50 Best Restaurants.
We are seeking a Front of House manager. An ideal candidate will have experience in upscale dining, restaurant management, and wine list creation.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing and managing dinner service
- Curating and purchasing for our wine list and assisting servers in selling wine to guests
- Leading staff education on wine list
- Managing overall beverage program
- Pricing, costing, & COGS control for wine, beer, liquor, and n/a beverages
- Hiring FOH positions, scheduling, corrections, overseeing of training
- Responding to guest inquires and complaints
- Returning reservations request and general requests by phone and email
- Offsite errands
- Planning and executing occasional private events
- Working closely with chef/owner to provide a high level of service and guest experience
- Occasional covering of host and support positions when needed
Expectations:
- 45-50 hours per week
- 4 service shifts per week, 1 early out admin day

Salary and Benefits:
- $65k-$75k per year

Requirements:
- 5 years restaurant experience
- 2 years management experience
- 1 year experience with product purchasing
- Familiarity with natural wines and Italian wines
