JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is maintenance and personal services work in caring for the grounds at a state building complex. Work includes overseeing and working with a crew in preserving and improving the appearance of the grounds. Work is performed under general supervision.
REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:
- Oversees the seeding, watering, mowing, and raking of lawns in order to maintain grounds.
- Monitors the digging of flower beds and planting, weeding, and tending flowers and shrubs in order to beautify grounds.
- Oversees snow removal activities in order to ensure accessibility and safety of personnel.
- Applies insecticides, fungicides, and other chemicals in order to control pests.
- Repairs and maintains tools and equipment in order to ensure equipment is safe and maximize availability.
- Oversees rubbish, leaves and other refuse removal in order to ensure area appearance meets established standards.
- Monitors and oversees the repair of benches, paths, and other articles on the grounds in order to ensure user safety.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of landscaping and groundskeeping techniques.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather.
- Ability to supervise crew.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training or experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, carpentry, masonry, or another related field demonstrating competency in operating and servicing outdoor power equipment; overseeing grounds ands landscape maintenance; snow and ice removal and the ability to work collaboratively as a part if a team.
