Job Description:
This position is an advanced technical management position that is responsible for the overall administration, supervision, and daily operation of MaineDOT's laboratory testing section, including the Central Lab in Bangor, and the Freeport Lab. This position provides leadership to the staff and ensures that high quality testing is performed in conformance with AASHTO and ASTM standard methods and is responsible for maintaining AASHTO accreditation for both facilities, as well as ensuring that all activities are conducted safely and efficiently. The person in this role communicates with the lab's internal and external customers in order to provide timely, accurate testing information to the various Programs/Bureaus/Units within MaineDOT. Work performed by this position will have minimal supervision.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Licensure as a Professional Engineer plus two (2) years of work experience beyond such licensure which demonstrates the performance of significantly complex engineering science, competency in evaluating risk, and applying sound engineering judgement as it applies to planning, project development, and/or maintenance of public works structures and facilities.
Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Licensure as a Professional Engineer as issued by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
