Position Overview: MSAD 61 is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educational leader to serve as Academic Leader. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative partner who supports a positive school culture, supports high-quality teaching and learning, and fosters strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education– REQUIRED
- Three to five years teaching experience– REQUIRED
- Maine 045 certification - PREFERRED
Responsibilities
- Skilled at building relationships with students, teachers, and families to develop a positive learning environment
- Able to work collaboratively with a team and facilitate Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings to inform instruction and establish concrete goals and expectations for all students based on the analysis of student achievement data
- Possess a deep knowledge of effective literacy and numeracy instructional practices including differentiation
- Have a strong background in Response to Intervention/MTSS to facilitate student support meetings with staff
- Assist the Principal in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness for curriculum alignment, instructional strategies, implementation, and assessment
- Implement Tier 1 and Tier 2 Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies to reduce disciplinary infractions and promote a culture of mutual respect
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders and build trust through listening, transparency, and follow-through
- Work collaboratively with all staff to strengthen the instructional programs and practices
- Have a deep understanding of accommodations to facilitate 504 meetings to meet the needs of students
- Able to supervise and evaluate - provide feedback and reflection to enhance instructional practices
- Monitor student attendance, with follow-up student/parent contact where necessary
