JOB DESCRITPTION:
This is maintenance and personal service work involving the custodial care and maintenance of public or institutional buildings and premises. Work is performed under general supervision.
REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:
- Scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors; dusts and polishes furniture;
- Washes windows, woodwork, toilets, washrooms, and fixtures in order to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
- Inspects institutional areas in order to safeguard property and equipment in the building and on the premises.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in janitorial work.
- Knowledge of the precautions necessary to safeguard property and equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks in the care, cleaning, and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Ability to use a computer for email and time entry.
- Ability to work and make decisions on your own.
- Ability to adjust work schedule as needed due to operational needs.
- Ability to follow work rules and Standard Operating Procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience and training which demonstrates a basic knowledge of building and grounds maintenance and repair.
