Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Heavy Truck Service Manager to lead our service department dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of maintenance, repair, and diagnostics for a diverse fleet of trucks, industrial machinery, and farm equipment. Your leadership will ensure that our service operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely, while maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the service team, including technicians specializing in heavy truck repair, diesel mechanics, and equipment maintenance.
- Oversee the diagnosis and repair of complex mechanical systems such as transmissions, hydraulics, air brake systems, suspension components, and electrical systems.
- Coordinate the scheduling of repairs and maintenance for fleet vehicles including tractor-trailers, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry standards during all repair activities; conduct regular safety audits.
- Review schematics and technical manuals to guide troubleshooting processes; utilize diagnostic tools for automotive electrical system repair and engine diagnostics.
- Manage inventory levels for parts such as shocks & struts, tires, filters, and other essential components; order supplies as needed.
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Foster excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs, timelines, and maintenance recommendations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dealership or heavy equipment service management with a strong background in heavy truck repair or industrial machinery.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems including transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, suspension components, and diesel engines.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques, welding, equipment assembly, and use of power tools.
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals; proficient in automotive diagnostics and electrical system repair.
- Skilled in heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of technicians effectively; excellent organizational skills.
- Valid certifications or training related to heavy truck mechanics or diesel engine repair are highly desirable.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions; commitment to safety standards.
