We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles to keep our operations running safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate is a skilled, dependable mechanic who can diagnose problems, make quality repairs, and work independently while also collaborating with the operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction and/or industrial equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on equipment
- Inspect equipment to identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other issues
- Repair and maintain diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, brakes, and other mechanical components
- Perform equipment inspections and identify potential problems before they result in downtime
- Complete repairs and maintenance accurately and efficiently
- Maintain service records and document repairs, parts, and maintenance performed
- Work with operators and supervisors to identify equipment issues and prioritize repairs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements
- Assist with emergency or field repairs as needed
- Other duties related to equipment maintenance and repair
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical systems
- Ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs
- Experience working on heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, dump trucks, or similar equipment
- Ability to read and understand service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to safely lift, bend, climb, and work around heavy equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- CDL and/or relevant technical certifications are a plus
