The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking to fill a Data & Research Coordinator vacancy in Augusta.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is the Air Bureau’s Environmental Information Coordinator and provides coordination and management of agency information technology (IT) resources. While this position’s responsibilities are primarily centered within the Air Bureau, this position will also be tasked with certain projects that affect the entire Department. IT solutions are essential to maintaining and improving environmental health in Maine. This position collaborates with staff in licensing, monitoring, inspections, enforcement, finance, and many other programs. This position is tasked with recognizing emerging needs and identifying opportunities in the Air Bureau where IT solutions can improve efficiency and enhance workflows. This position communicates with all levels of staff to ensure the quality of environmental data. The ability to implement best practices while managing complex projects is a critical function of this position. The position reports to the Department’s Business Analyst in the Division of Resource Administration.
Based on recommendations from the agency’s Business Analyst and in accordance with Office of Information Technology policy, this position brings data management advice and IT initiatives to the Air Bureau and The Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An eight (8) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in research, statistics, health planning, sociology, public administration, or management.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in oral and written communication of technical information.
- Experience with data management, data reporting, and how these skills are used in the context of environmental regulatory systems.
- Experience finding common ground with people with different perspectives.
- Ability to ask questions and work on a team to resolve problems.
- Experience with change management relating to data management or IT systems.
- Ability to think creatively when identifying and analyzing problems.
- Experience with analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and ESRI ArcGIS.
