Purpose: The Executive Director will provide leadership and financial accountability in developing public and private resources to support the mission of the Maine 4-H Foundation. As Executive Director of a public charitable foundation, fundraising and donor development are critical components of this position.
Statement of the Job:
With an expectation of high levels of autonomy and self-motivation, this position is charged with managing and executing a wide range of administrative, marketing, development, and operational support activities in collaboration with the Maine 4-H Foundation Assistant Director. The Magic Lantern Innovation Center is a collaborative project of the Maine 4-H Foundation and requires collaborative direction from both the Executive Director and the Assistant Director. This position executes the day-to-day activities of the Maine 4-H Foundation, public relations, events planning, fund development, marketing, and Magic Lantern Innovation Center fund development all while maintaining confidentiality and integrity. This position works in collaboration with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and with the University of Maine Foundation to help support resource development.
Essential Duties of the Job:
As Executive Director this position requires:
· Work in collaboration with the 4-H Foundation’s Board of Trustees to develop annual fundraising goals and a strategy for success in their achievement.
· Work with the Magic Lantern Innovation Center team on overall operations and on fund development.
· Continue working on the long-term funding advancement strategy and plan to support Maine’s 4-H programs with the Maine 4-H Foundation Board and Maine 4-H Leadership Team.
· Develop a one-year immediate work plan within an existing five-year development plan (including a research plan for donor development).
· Provide ongoing support, communication, and board development to the 4-H Foundation's Board of Trustees in conducting their work in collaboration with the UMaine Extension 4-H Leadership Team and Financial Administrator.
· Coordinate donor stewardship activities that include working with the University of Maine database and communication with donors.
· Oversee coordination of Foundation board meetings, annual meeting, and committee meetings in partnership with the Assistant Director.
· Connect with the UMaine Extension Marketing and Communications Team to help promote the 4-H Foundation in support of development initiatives.
· Work with committees of the Foundation including the scholarship, finance, and executive committees and the annual meeting event (spring or summer with scholarship presentations).
· Work with the financial managers and the finance committee on all investments, endowments, fiscal reporting, and the 990.
· Work on the Maine 4-H Foundation annual appeal letter, solicitation letters, Facebook, and PR with the Assistant Director.
· Works with the learning center directors and 4-H program staff on supporting grant writing and program/capital projects.
· Grant review and collaboration with UMaine Extension on 4-H program grant requests.
· Direct Maine 4-H Foundation board management, including three business meetings per year. Special meetings or committee meetings called as needed. (See below)
· Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies and organizations as appropriate to serving the mission of the Maine 4-H Foundation.
· Develop and maintain relationships with key partners at the state and national levels.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
