Work Schedule: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Summary :
This position is responsible for the operation of the switchboard and reception area. This position often serves as the initial point of contact.
Responsibilities :
- Receives incoming telephone calls and handles appropriately by transferring or taking messages.
- Greets visitors and directs them appropriately.
- Receives and records payments for residents.
- Maintains resident petty cash fund by recording deposits and withdrawals and issuing receipts.
- Assists Nursing Department by making overhead pages, calling employees, and taking messages as needed.
- Performs typing, recordkeeping, and other clerical tasks as directed by the Business Manager.
- Sorts and distributes mail.
- Has access to various medical and employee information of a confidential nature and is required to maintain confidentiality of same.
- Responsible for maintaining regular, punctual attendance.
Other Information :
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time, and to move intermittently throughout the day.
- Must be able to see, hear and read.
- Works in office area with telephone, adding machine, typewriter, and computer equipment.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions.
- Interacts frequently with a variety of people and is required to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor.
- Must be able to possess the emotional stability to deal with people who are ill, disabled, elderly, and at time, emotionally upset.
- Must have prior experience with general office and receptionist duties to include greeting and directing visitors, and general clerical duties.
- Able to use general office equipment to include: calculator, mail meter, photocopier, computer word processing software.
- Demonstrated evidence of telephone skills.
- Ability to project a professional appearance as demonstrated by appropriate grooming and professional office type attire.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, physicians, vendors, and the general public, and to maintain patience and a cheerful disposition in doing so.
- Must be capable of maintaining confidentiality.
