Bureau of Motor Vehicle is seeking motivated candidates for the position of Titles Production Trainer (Office Specialist I) in the Title Services Unit.
Who are we?
As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in assisting, advising, and training Titles Production staff. You would provide staff with assistance to develop the skills needed to maintain high standards of professional excellence. You will be responsible for dealing with all processes and services to customers and internal employees on the telephone, e-mail, and in-person. These services include, but are not limited to, the initiating of requests for uncollected title fees, reviewing, and verifying documents when training, updating title records and producing letters. The work you would be doing with us is detailed-oriented, time sensitive, and computer based. You will be required to learn Title 29-A laws, related policies, and procedures. You will also need to use independent judgement in handle exceptions to established work assignments.
Work hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Instructs employees individually and/or in groups using various methods and techniques.
• Evaluates trainee performance to suggest improvements.
• Reviews training materials to verify compliance with applicable laws, rules, policy, procedures, and standard requirements.
• Communicates with supervisor regarding an employee’s training experience.
• Opening mail, answering phone calls, reconciling revenue, and clerical work.
• Organize, review, and maintain computer and manual files.
• Operate office equipment (i.e., printers, photocopier, fax, validator, and phones)
• Provides services to internal and external customers by phone, email, and in-person.
• Perform various clerical duties within the unit.
• Examining motor vehicle title applications and associated documents such as liens, chain of ownership, vehicle and odometer information, and signatures to determine vehicle ownership and compliance with applicable regulations.
The candidate we are looking for will have the following skills:
• Training experience highly preferred
• Presentation software, especially Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of the laws and practices related to the title and ownership of motor vehicle titles.
• Knowledge of Maine Motor Vehicle Statute Title 29-A.
• Knowledge of Bureau of Motor Vehicle computer systems, including on-line programs.

Minimum Qualifications: (Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience.)
- Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates:
- Competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills.
- Ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters.
- All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I and Office Associate II.
