The City of Belfast, a vibrant, development-focused community of 7,000 located in midcoast Maine, seeks a full-time Public Works Foreman. This position is a salaried management position overseeing public works operations and maintenance activities including roadwork, storm drainage systems, sewer systems, heavy equipment maintenance and other related tasks as required of a municipal Public Works Department under the direction of, the Public Works Director.
The successful applicant must have knowledge of road construction materials and methods, construction equipment operation, and the ability to supervise crews for extended hours during winter storms as well as emergency call-ins throughout the year. The salary range for this position is $60,422 to $68,006 in addition to a competitive benefits package. The schedule for this position is a 4-day work week, Monday through Thursday, but will require long hours of overnight, roadway or other service at times.
Applicants must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License required, Class A preferred, a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), supervisory experience and/or training, experience with both public works and sewer system operations, and skilled in operating backhoes, loaders, excavators, single/tandem axle dumps and trench boxes.
