The Town of Brunswick Planning and Development Department is seeking a Land Use Planner to coordinate and lead the development review process from pre-application meetings to final approval; serve as primary staff support to the Planning Board, Staff Review Committee and other department-staffed committees as needed; perform long range and special project planning; draft Zoning Ordinance and Map amendments; coordinate with the Coastal Resource Manager and Environmental Planner to recommend best management practices for sustainable development, environmental protection and conservation; conduct research on emerging planning trends; create maps and other visual exhibits via ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite; report writing; and perform other planning activities in support of the Department Director. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, knowledge of state planning laws, and consensus facilitation skills. The Land Use Planner is a highly visible staff member who coordinates with all Town Departments on a regular basis.
This is a key staff position and a challenging opportunity in a fast-paced work environment, utilizing skills in the areas of detailed coordination, facilitation, and project management. Technical expertise in land use and natural resource planning required. This position will require making public presentations, strong and detailed writing skills, as well as creative problem-solving skills to assist our Town into the future.
The Land Use Planner usually possesses a master's degree in planning or a closely related field and at least five (5) years of experience in the planning profession. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred.
The full salary range for this position is $79,678 to $103,490. The starting pay will be pursuant to qualifications and budgetary allowance.
