ACCOUNTANT I FULL-TIME
Business Office
High School diploma with an associates degree in accounting or related field preferred.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Director of Business Services and Superintendent of Schools on the fiscal management of the school operation.
- Prepares financial information, including cost comparisons and budgetary impact statements for use in budget projections.
- Troubleshoots various reporting or function issues with the software company.
- Operates computer terminal for input and maintenance of accounting system transactions.
- Applies accounting principles in the maintenance of financial records.
- Receives revenue, records transactions, and reconciles all revenues with the Treasurer’s Office.
- Assist with the reconciliation of various school cash accounts including bank check file transmissions.
- Assist the Senior Accountant with internal audits.
- Prepares journal entries for approval.
- Prepares reconciliations of school-to-city accounting records.
- Completes and verifies coding for computer generated accounting program input.
- Assist with payroll auditing under the guidance of the Senior Accountant.
- Distributes monthly reports and financial statements.
- Assists the Senior Accountant with the payroll reconciliation of calendar year while generating payroll W-2 forms for all employees.
- Back-up for Accounts Payable Clerk’s responsibilities during his/her vacation.
- Assists the Senior Accountant with the preparation of financial reports to state and federal agencies.
- Prepares accounts receivable invoices.
- Assists Director of Business Services in preparing annual budget document.
- Assists in training personnel as needed with the school’s accounting software.
- Works with the City’s auditors at fiscal year-end and completes all necessary schedules as requested.
- Performs such other duties relating to accounting or bookkeeping as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Business Services or the Superintendent of Schools.
