Staff Accountant ~ Inventory Focus, local to Milbridge, ME and surrounding area.

SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant will focus primarily on Inventory while also assisting the Accounting Manager and Fiscal Team in all areas of work within the Accounting Department. This is a critical role that will coordinate with multiple departments for maximum efficiency and success including Finance, Warehousing, Quality Assurance, and Inventory. The successful candidate will be able to work well independently and with groups from multiple departments. Strong written and verbal communication skills are key components for this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· On site cycle counts at our various cold storage locations

· Prove warehouses inventories and reconcile storage invoices

· Process inventory invoices from purchasing

· Review and process freight invoices

· Backup to all inventory procedures

· Learn all day-to-day inventory accounting operations and work closely with Senior Inventory Manager

· Inventory reconciliation during audit

· DTC Inventory

· All other misc. inventory items (setting up items, etc.)

· Any inventory reporting that CFO requests – (Consolidated Roll Forward, Low Grade, FC versus Actuals) Analyze any unusual variances on FC vs Actuals

· Chemical Inventories

· Assist in the development of internal controls/support continuous process improvements

· DTC Accounts Payable

· Bank Statements

· Other various accounting department procedures

SKILLS / ABILITIES

· A bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2-3 years of experience preferred; however, an Associate’s with 2 years accounting experience will be considered

· Good communication skills and a positive, “can do” attitude are a must to effectively support all levels of company management and staff

· The ability to adapt and “pivot” as things arise that require prompt attention

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires the ability to navigate between home office, Wyman’s Finance Office, located in Milbridge, Maine, and multiple cold storage facilities and warehouses throughout DownEast, Maine as needed to complete the functions of the position. This may require extended travel time, time at a desk, or time working within both cold storage and dry storage warehousing facilities. The Staff Accountant needs to be able to withstand the cold. The cold storage facilities are -5 degrees to -10 degrees, and you may need to be in the cold for up to 30 minutes or more with the proper gear on.

SCHEDULE AND HOURS

This position typically functions within a Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm schedule, though additional or modified hours may be required from time to time to meet business need.
