Public Works Utility Equipment Operator / Laborer
The City of Belfast is accepting applications for a Utility Equipment Operator / Laborer at the Public Works Department. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, be in good physical condition, and have a flexible schedule. This position requires a Maine CDL, bending, reaching above shoulders, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, work on uneven ground, lifting and carrying objects of up to 50 lbs. individually or 100 lbs. with assistance. This is a semi-skilled / skilled position requiring the operation of equipment such as loader, backhoe, excavator, roller, dump truck and sweeper and in the performance of allied duties, in the completion of Public Works projects and activities.
This is a full-time position with full benefits. Compensation is $25.41 for the first 6 months, then $26.05 plus $0.25 if pass a 6-month evaluation. Automatic annual increase per union contract and 4-year step increases.
Hours of operation: 6AM - 4:30PM, Monday through Thursday 40hrs/week with overtime + stipend (May-November) for holiday and weekend on-call duties.
