Job Summary: The Packaging Lead oversees daily packaging operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards and state regulations. This role requires a strong attention to detail, effective team leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Our packaging team plays a crucial role in ensuring that every product meets our rigorous standards before reaching consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
● Team Leadership and Training:
○ Train and supervise packaging team members, ensuring adherence to Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs).
○ Oversee and manage a packaging team of approximately 10 members.
○ Address staff concerns promptly and provide constructive feedback.
○ Collaborate with the Assistant Packaging Lead to delegate responsibilities effectively.
● Operational Coordination:
○ Arrive 10-15 minutes early to set up orders and optimize workflow.
○ Coordinate with Logistics Department to ensure all orders, including packaged
flower and pre-rolls, are accurate and completed in a timely manner
○ Maintain consistent communication with the Logistics Manager regarding delivery
schedules.
● Quality Assurance:
○ Conduct regular quality checks on packaged products to ensure compliance with
Jar Co's standards.
○ Verify all boxes before sealing to ensure accuracy and quality.
● Inventory and Data Management:
○ Accurately complete daily data tracking sheets, monitoring all inventory
movements from the packaging room.
○ Complete all Metrc conversions within 24 hours to ensure precise data tracking.
○ Print Metrc-compliant labels for all packaged products.
○ Organize and store products retrieved from the vault at the end of each day.
● Compliance and Safety:
○ Ensure all packaging activities comply with state regulations and company
policies.
○ Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety and sanitation
guidelines.
○ Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks.
○ Maintain an up-to-date Individual Identification Card (IIC) as required.
Qualifications:
● Proven experience in packaging operations, preferably within the cannabis industry.
● Strong leadership and team management skills.
● Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
● Proficiency in data entry and inventory management systems.
● Ability to work 10-hour shifts and lift up to 50 lbs.
● Familiarity with state regulations related to cannabis packaging is a plus.
● Obtain IIC card through the Office of Cannabis Policy
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to work directly with dried cannabis flower.
● Capability to sit or stand for extended periods.
● Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
