Town Clerk
The Town of Berwick is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Town Clerk to join our municipal leadership team. This is a full-time, exempt position with a 4-day, 37.5-hour work week. This position is ideal for someone who values public service and thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented setting.
As Town Clerk, you’ll also serve as the Registrar of Voters and General Assistance Administrator and oversee a range of essential functions, including:
· Managing and preserving vital records (birth, marriage, death)
· Administering all local, state, and federal elections
· Supervising voter registration and maintaining voter rolls
· Collecting excise taxes and issuing motor vehicle registrations and IF&W licenses
· Serving as Ex officio Clerk to the Select Board, including preparing agendas, attending meetings, and recording meeting minutes
· Supervising the Clerk’s Office staff and managing day-to-day operations
The ideal candidate will bring:
· Extensive knowledge of Maine municipal laws, election processes, and records management
· Strong leadership and supervisory skills
· Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service abilities
· Proficiency in modern office technology and public administration practices
· A collaborative, professional attitude, and a passion for public service
Requirements:
· Associate degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
· Minimum 3 years of relevant municipal experience
· Must be a resident of Maine
· Notary Public and valid Maine driver’s license required (or ability to obtain)
· State Clerk Certification (or ability to obtain)
