We are looking for a Carpenter’s Helper/Apprentice.*
The purpose of this position is to increase the efficiency and production of the Blaiklock Carpentry, Inc. crew, with the expectation of developing into a competent carpenter.
*Carpenters of all experience levels considered as, ultimately, we are seeking the best fit.
Any candidate must:
▪ be reliable ▪ have dependable transportation ▪ be at least 18 years old
▪ be committed to learning the carpentry trade
▪ have the ability to perform physically demanding work at heights
A basic knowledge of tools, math, and geometry is helpful.
Compensation
$25/hour to start *pay to be increased upon demonstrated ability
4-day workweek with regular paycheck—no “subcontractor” status
Training in quality construction practices on safe jobsites
Tasks
Provide support to an exacting carpenter including:
Help set up jobsite at start of workday
Supply tools and materials throughout the day
Keep jobsite & work trailer organized, clean, & supplied
Provide an extra set of hands when necessary
Perform basic carpentry & construction tasks
Help break down jobsite at end of workday/end of job
Must be able to work in a variety of weather and site conditions; routinely lift 50 lbs., occasionally lift 75 lbs. Must have stamina and dexterity.
Blaiklock Carpentry, Inc. works in residential construction in midcoast Maine, primarily preserving historic structures. Projects typically include whole-house renovations, additions, remodels, and architectural woodworking.
