MC Community Services is hiring a part-time Section 28 RCS Supervisor to support BHPs serving children and families in the community. This position starts as a dual role: some direct BHP hours and some supervision. Over time, you’ll transition into a pure supervisor role.
Why people like working here
We’re a small, community-rooted agency, which means less bureaucracy, more real relationships, and a team that actually knows each other. We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. You’ll find a culture that values:
- Doing meaningful work with kids and families (and seeing the progress over time)
- A supportive, “we’ve got your back” environment, especially when cases get messy
- Clear expectations and direct communication (no guessing games)
- Autonomy + trust, you’re treated like a professional
- A team vibe that includes humor, warmth, and celebrating wins (because this work is heavy sometimes, and it helps to have good people around you)
As a MaineCare-contracted Section 28 provider, we’re proud to offer trauma-informed, community-centered services that make a real difference. At its heart, this role is about helping children and families access reliable, high-quality support, because consistency drives progress.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise, guide, and support BHPs working with children and families
- Work 1:1 with children and young adults with a mental or behavioral health diagnosis, to help enrich their lives and achieve their goals
- Reinforce documentation and service quality standards consistent with MaineCare/Section 28 expectations
- Help coordinate coverage during staffing gaps; provide direct support coverage when necessary
- Keep services consistent and family-centered by supporting staff follow-through and removing barriers for families
What Makes This Role Unique
- It starts as a dual role: BHP and RCS Supervisor
- Week 1 - BHP: 10 hours a week / Supervisor: ~5 hours a week
- As you gain experience and skills, you will transition to a full RCS Supervisor role working 15 hours a week or more (no regular BHP hours)
- Know that the hours can expand with your availability and caseload
- Want to work more? No problem! We'll expand the role for you.
- Want to stay at 15 hours a week? Great!
Do Any Of These Resonate To You?
- You’re early in your career (or changing careers) and want real supervisor-level experience.
- You’re a BHP (or similar) who wants a clear path into leadership.
- You’ve worked with kids and families in schools, youth programs, or human services, and want to move into MaineCare behavioral health.
- Part-time fits your life right now, but you still want work that matters.
- You care about doing the work the right way: consistent services, strong documentation, and real support for families.
What You Need
- 2+ years or more of related experience working with children/families in home, school, or community settings
- Strong communication skills and ability to guide and support others
- Comfortable having direct, professional performance conversations when needed
- Organized, flexible, and steady under pressure
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally
- BHP-certification or eligible to obtain BHP certification within 1 year
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services or related field
What Would Make You Stand Out
- Prior experience supervising BHPs or similar roles
- Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
- A calm, coach-like style: you can correct issues while keeping morale intact
Why This Role Matters
In this work, consistency is everything. When a kid has the right support week after week, you can actually see things start to shift — at home, at school, and in how they handle everyday life. And our BHPs do their best work when they know someone’s in their corner: helping them think through tough situations, keeping documentation on track, and stepping in when things get complicated.
That’s where you come in. You’ll be the steady point person who keeps our services strong and helps our staff feel supported and confident - not micromanaged.
If this sounds like your kind of role, we’d really like to talk. We’re looking for someone dependable, grounded, and able to have direct conversations when they’re needed, while still being warm and team-focused.
