North Haven Community School will be searching for a part-time Art Teacher (K-12) to begin the 2026-2027 school year. We are a small K-12 school (approximately 60 students) on the island of North Haven, which is accessible via ferry, 12 miles offshore from Rockland, ME. As a member of our teaching staff, you will have the unique opportunity to engage in small classes and develop meaningful individual relationships with each student. Students at our school benefit from a wealth of resources, community support, individualized curriculum, and experiential learning opportunities.
An art teacher at our school will have the opportunity to teach autonomously and/or co-teach through integrated approaches across the entire K-12 spectrum, collaborating with other enrichment teachers to create an interdisciplinary art experience. Scheduling is flexible. Opportunities in art are also supported by generous grants from local non-profit organizations.
Applicants should have teaching experience, be eligible for certification in Maine, and committed to student-focused experiential and place-based education.
Salary and benefits are regionally competitive and include full health benefits. This role may be combined with other part-time options to create a full-time position, depending on the candidate. For any questions and to apply, please submit a completed job application, via email to sjohnson@nhcshawks.org. Applications for teaching positions can be found on our website at this link. Posting will be open until a successful candidate is found.
