A commercial truck driver is responsible for collecting waste and recyclables from commercial and residential locations. The driver will be required to safely operate a waste collection vehicle, in Oxford, Franklin, and Androscoggin counties.
Responsibilities
- Operates vehicle in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.
- Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
- Notifies Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process.
- Plan routes and use GPS.
- Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving.
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Report defects, accidents or violations.
Skills
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
- Valid truck driving license

- CDL B (Preferred)
- Air Brake Endorsement (Preferred)
