Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (Birthplace)
Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME
Full-time | Nights | 7p–7a | 12-Hour Shifts
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers safe, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) within the Labor & Delivery (Birthplace) setting. Provides direct patient care and is accountable for assigned mothers and newborns across the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum continuum.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to laboring mothers and newborns
- Perform maternal and fetal assessments, including fetal monitoring
- Respond rapidly to changes in maternal/fetal condition and treatment response
- Support labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care
- Provide patient and family education on childbirth, newborn care, and recovery
- Guide and support nursing personnel to maintain standards of care
- Ensure a safe environment for patients and visitors
- Utilize the chain of command to ensure patient safety and appropriate care
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid state RN license 2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred 3. BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current 4. NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current 5. Basic Fetal Monitoring upon hire within 60 days of hire and maintain current
