Title: School Nurse
Qualifications
- Current license to practice nursing in Maine.
- Certification as required by the State Department of Education.
- Certification to teach Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
Job Goal
To assist the administration in designing and executing an appropriate district-wide health service program for all children attending M.S.A.D. #30 schools, and to complete State reports, as needed.
Performance Responsibilities
- Maintain health records;
- Serve as health liaison between schools, homes, and communities, including making home visits;
- Develop and execute a district-wide health-screening program;
- Be knowledgeable regarding Maine health laws. Ensure compliance for the district;
- Review all immunization records for new and/or transferred students;
- Review for staff Bloodborne Pathogens and general first aid yearly;
- Teach medication administration to Secretaries and Educational Technicians;
- Teach CPR to staff as needed;
- Track and maintain all sports physicals;
- Track and maintain concussion paperwork for coaches/athletes;
- Review all medical incident reports;
- Prepare/maintain first aid bags for all field trips/sports teams;
- Prepare health care plans for students with medical diagnoses;
- Participate in Section 504 identifications when recommended;
- Monitor daily absenteeism, and notify CDC when needed;
- Participate in the health aspects of all pre-school registration programs;
- Ensure that appropriate first-aid materials are available in all district schools;
- Provide first-aid services, as needed;
- Be responsible for dental health instruction; and
- Assess children who are ill or injured
- Organize yearly Flu clinics at both schools.
- Other such duties as may be assigned.
Terms Of Employment
Salary and work year to be established by the Teacher negotiated contract.
