Position Overview
The Front Desk Clerk plays a key role in creating a welcoming and memorable experience for guests from the moment they arrive. This position is responsible for managing the front desk, assisting guests with check-in and check-out, answering questions, coordinating guest needs, and ensuring smooth daily front desk operations. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and passionate about hospitality.
This is a full-time seasonal role starting now to early October (exact dates may vary). The candidate will need to have reliable transportation to and from Chebeague Island Inn or find housing on the Island.
Key Responsibilities
Greet guests warmly and provide a welcoming first impression of the Inn
Manage guest check-in and check-out processes accurately and efficiently
Answer phone calls, emails, and guest inquiries in a professional and timely manner
Provide information about the Inn, island activities, transportation, and local attractions
Coordinate guest requests and communicate effectively with housekeeping, restaurant, and management teams
Handle reservations, changes, and cancellations using the property management system
Maintain accurate guest records and process payments as needed
Assist with luggage coordination, transportation arrangements, and general guest services
Resolve guest concerns or escalate issues to management when appropriate
Keep the front desk and lobby area organized, clean, and welcoming
Support other operational needs of the Inn as required
Qualifications
Previous hospitality, hotel, or customer service experience preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Friendly, professional demeanor with strong guest service focus
Ability to stay organized and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable using reservation systems, email, and basic computer applications
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during the season
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
Ability to move throughout the property as needed to assist guests
